Gyukatsu Kyoto Katsugyu, the biggest beef cutlet chain in Japan, introduces its well-liked cutlet dish to Singapore

Customers will finally be able to sample Gyukatsu Kyoto Katsugyu, the well-known beef cutlets from Japan, when its first location in Singapore opens its doors next month.
The dining establishment will debut at Raffles City in September to offer five different types of beef, which are breaded and deep-fried like tonkatsu.
The beef cutlets are served in a set with rice, cabbage, aka miso soup, Kyoto-style curry, spicy chilli miso, and onsen egg. Prices have not been announced.
Gyukatsu Kyoto Katsugyu was founded in 2014 in Kyoto. It is Japan’s largest beef cutlet chain today and constantly sees long lines of diners waiting outside. The brand has about 70 locations worldwide in Canada, Hong Kong, Thailand, South Korea, and Taiwan.
The restaurant only uses lean cuts of beef from the sirloin, chuck, tenderloin, and tongue. Premium Wagyu beef is available as well. The beef is coated in a batter made of breadcrumbs, flour, and eggs, and cooked for 60 to 120 seconds to achieve a medium-rare consistency.
Diners can order the cuts individually or in half-and-half combinations.
The beef cutlets come in the Gyukatsu Zen set with a range of condiments including Kyoto-style curry, fresh wasabi, dashi soy sauce, gyukatsu sauce, spicy chilli miso, and sancho pepper salt. There are also side dishes such as onsen egg, cabbage, aka miso soup, grated radish with citrus soy sauce, and rice.
Outlets in Japan also serve items such as prawn and salmon cutlets.
Prices for Gyukatsu Kyoto Katsugyu Singapore have not been released. In Japan, sets start from around JPY1,600 for a medium set.
