The unveiling of the Bvlgari Aeterna in Tokyo

Aeterna, the ultimate high-end collection by Roman jeweller Bvlgari, was launched in a star-studded event in Kyoto, Japan
Earlier this month, Bvlgari took off from the eternal city of Rome to Kyoto, Japan, to showcase one of its latest collections, the Aeterna. Named after the Latin word for “eternity,” this high-end collection includes around 400 high jewellery and high jewellery timepieces. And for unveiling of these scintillating masterpieces, Bvlgari chose the Kyoto International Conference Center as its stage. And for sure, this historical venue in downtown Kyoto with its pristine gardens presents a most auspicious venue for such a grand occasion.
Much like previous events by Bvlgari, the launch of the Aeterna was a star-studded affair. That evening saw Bvlgari brand ambassador and model Hikari Mori in attendance, along with singer and actor Tomohisa Yamashita. Japanese actress Koyuki and Swiss conductor Lorenzo Viotti were also present. And hailing from our very own shores, there was actress Luna Maya joining in the magical evening.
Naturally, the event included a jewellery show featuring the new Aeterna pieces which told a story borne from the history, culture, and beauty of Rome. Afterwards, the assorted guests were treated to a spectacular gala dinner featuring the culinary creations of chef Luca Fantin, the Michelin-starred gastronomic genius behind Il Ristorante – Luca Fantin at the Bvlgari Ginza Tower in Tokyo and Bvlgari Resort Bali.
For the final flourish, Lorenzo Viotti conducted an orchestra of 50 musicians to create a harmonic grand finale to the spectacular event.
Even as the evening came to a close, the journey of Bvlgari’s Aeterna in collection didn’t yet end. Select new pieces from the collection was then showcased at a special exhibition that took place at Daigoji Temple, Kyoto’s famous “Temple of Flowers” as well as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
At the exhibit, visitors were treated to key pieces from the Aeterna collection set in front of a stunning reinterpretation of prints by architect Giovanni Battista Piranesi. These prints were rendered on custom-made tapestries in a special jacquard fabric by Rubelli, a historic Venetian fabric designer, and depicted ancient Roman maps that were originally engraved on marble slabs. All in all, the exhibit presented an unparallelled display of eternal Roman craftsmanship as it evolves through the ages, in harmony with the timeless elegance of Japan’s cultural heart.
