AYANA Resort Bali partnered with Utama Spice and the jamu BAR to present Jamu & Spice

AYANA Resort Bali, Utama Spice, and the jamu BAR carry a vision of educational tourism that embraces cultural heritage through its latest one-stop destination
A prominent destination for luxury travel, AYANA Resort Bali always strives for excellence in providing unique experiences and opportunities for personal development and enrichment. Following the partnership between AYANA Farm and the jamu BAR earlier in August, the celebrated resort has now joined forces with a contemporary jamu establishment. In short, the duo welcomed revered skincare company Utama Spice, and the result is a new concept store and a wellness learning centre: Jamu & Spice.
Jamu & Spice was born out of AYANA’s aspiration to enrich guests’ experiences with authentic cultural aspects of Indonesia. This aligns with Utama Spice’s dedication to preserving traditional beauty practices while promoting the power of natural products. In addition, the jamu BAR has been equipped with ideas and expertise in the world of jamu. Combining these aspects, the trio envisions a synergy that embraces modernity while celebrating the nation’s heritage with the birth of the establishment.
As mentioned earlier, Jamu & Spice is a one-stop destination, presenting both learning opportunities and inspiring shopping experiences. To begin their visit, guests can join 15-minute workshops where they can learn to make jamu blends, herbal teas, and skincare products such as bath salts, body oil, and perfume oil, all using natural ingredients. In addition, the venue invites visitors to make their own traditional Javanese scrub or lulur and Balinese boreh.
To further deepen their knowledge and understanding of jamu, guests visiting Jamu & Spice are welcome to participate in the Traditional Herbal Remedies Workshops at the iconic AYANA Farm. Available from Wednesday to Sunday, these two-hour reservation-only sessions offer an opportunity to harvest herbs and medicinal plants from the farm’s living pharmacy and create personalised herbal medicines. Also offered are tailored packages to craft customisable skincare products. Later, these products can be used during treatments at AYANA Spa.
In addition to this, Jamu & Spice has another surprise for holidaymakers staying in any property within the vast AYANA Estate, with reservations made directly through ayana.com. AYANA guests are eligible for a complimentary bath bomb-making workshop. The offer also includes up to two bath bombs per room, elevating one’s relaxation and bath experience to a new height.
The jamu BAR’s co-founder, Vanessa Ong says of the unveiling of this new shopping and cultural destination, “With Jamu & Spice, we aim to bridge heritage and contemporary living, ensuring that the treasures of traditional jamu and holistic skincare continue to thrive.” Ria Templer, co-founder of Utama Spice adds, “Our mission is to preserve this ancient wisdom for future generations as these plants hold tremendous healing potential, which has been passed down through the ages.”
In addition, AYANA Resort’s General Manager Giordano Faggioli says, “This initiative promises to be more than just a concept store; it’s a gateway to the past that shapes the present and future.” All in all, Jamu & Spice represents the resort’s unyielding commitment to honouring Indonesian culture. It is a symbol of a harmonious collaboration driven by innovation and national spirit. The venue is located in AYANA Resort Bali’s shopping arcade and is open every day from 9 AM to 7 PM.
