In celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, Conrad Bali reimagines tropical vacations with twenty new inspiring experiences, reasserting its status as a beacon of hospitality on the island of the gods.
When it was incepted in 2004, Conrad Bali was a trailblazer in the tourism scene of Tanjung Benoa, which was essentially a fishing village-turned-water sports hub. In the years since, the resort has presented unparalleled hospitality services to become one of the strongest contenders in Bali’s ever-growing tourism scene, with a wide array of inventive programs.
This year, Conrad Bali celebrates its 20th anniversary. Twenty years, however, does not merely signify the resort’s longevity. This milestone is a testament to the resort’s unwavering commitment to innovation and excellence. Along with the celebration, Conrad Bali introduces twenty new offerings that promise inspiring experiences while making each stay at the resort truly meaningful.
Conrad Bali sits on a 6.8-hectare site overlooking Benoa Bay. The beachfront resort has 368 private quarters set across four low-rise wings and a block of villas. These structures are surrounded by lush gardens, ponds, and pools, allowing for a seamless connection between the indoors and the outdoors.
The resort’s last extensive renovation, completed in 2020, brought new life to the guest rooms, suites, and villas. The colour palette of the resort’s design is still dominated by earthy shades, only now cooler hues prevail, juxtaposed by splashes of aquamarine symbolising the ocean. Minimalist wall panelling replaced wicker panels from the previous design. Some features from the original look, however, are still preserved, including the use of ceiling fans.
Accommodations at Conrad Bali feature private terraces or balconies, spacious marble bathrooms, and state-of-the-art amenities, including Byredo bath products. What truly epitomises luxury at the resort, however, is the Conrad Penthouse. Spanning 340 square metres, the unit embraces modern Balinese design and boasts an outdoor deck, a private infinity pool, and a fully-equipped kitchenette, making it perfect for intimate gatherings.
When it comes to F&B options, Conrad Bali has something for everyone. There are five dining outlets on the premises, each offering a distinctive dietary experience. The first is Suku, which overlooks the main pool and honours the culinary heritage of Indonesia. The name of the restaurant means “tribe” in Indonesian, and it highlights iconic dishes from all across the archipelago. Next is RIN, situated in the northern part of the resort and offering Japanese flavours with an international twist.
Of course, no visit to Bali would be complete without a seafood party. At the beachfront Eight Degrees South, the freshest ingredients from the ocean are translated into tantalising delicacies for an unforgettable al fresco dining experience. A stone’s throw away is Azure, which serves refreshing sips and light bites to enjoy after a dip in the pool. And to end a day at Conrad Bali, guests can head to East Lobby Lounge to enjoy a nightcap or two.
As mentioned earlier, for its 20th anniversary, Conrad Bali presents 20 activities or “moments” that guests can explore while staying, a few of which were introduced in the past couple of years. These activities are then divided into four categories or collections, each focusing on a specific theme.
The first collection, Signature Sensory Odysseys, comprises activities that stimulate the senses. The Art of Sound Healing, for one, promises enhanced wellbeing through the use of certain frequencies and vibrations. Meanwhile, those passionate about perfumery can discover Conrad No 20, created in collaboration with L’Atelier Perfumes and Créations, and put their own twist on the fragrance.
Guests seeking for rejuvenation-oriented activities can try one of the offerings from JIWA Wellness. One of those, the SWAY Sleep Therapy, is unique to Conrad Bali. This highly-recommended treatment combines rocking movement, acupressure massage, and aromatherapy. There is also the Tree of Life Spa Experience which promises health benefits offered by the coconut tree, as well as the Nawa Sanga Yantra Art Therapy which is an invitation to self-exploration through the world of colours and shapes.
Sustainability is still at the heart of the resort’s mission. On that note, Conrad Bali offers A Soulful Sojourn, a collection of activities that embrace green living and tradition. For one, guests can join the Aksara Bali writing session and learn how to write in traditional Balinese script. In addition, they can also purchase the Conrad Bali Charm, a limited-edition memento crafted by artisans from Gianyar.
And of course, gastronomic adventure is also on the menu. The Mindful Flavors series come with culinary programmes that elevate local flavours. Guests can indulge in a decadent buffet dinner while enjoying a fire dance performance on Tuesday, or kecak dance every Saturday night. Savor the Source is another themed-dinner where guests can learn about the ingredients behind the dishes before revelling in exquisite dinner. This program, in particular, highlights the establishment’s partnerships with local vendors while reflecting the resort’s commitment to sustainability. For cocktail enthusiasts, the Arak Mixology Class might be something to look forward to.
Lastly, Conrad Bali unveiled a special stay package to celebrate its vicennial anniversary – the Timeless Celebration package. Available for stays between May 2, 2024 to December 21, 2024, the offer comprises a three-night four-day stay in the Ocean Front Suite or the Lagoon Suite. The package also includes a number of perks for two guests, such as daily breakfast, a SWAY Sleep Therapy session, a themed dinner, and an Aksara Bali session.
In celebrating its 20th anniversary, Conrad Bali prepares to open a new chapter in its history.
