The “Sandya Niskala” collection, so named because of the combination of traditional and modern elements, features traditional ikat weaving designs that highlight Indonesia’s rich cultural legacy. In keeping with Indonesia’s character as an archipelagic nation, the design also incorporates geometric motifs derived from ocean waves. These symbols, in Didiet’s words, symbolize “the struggle and optimism of the athletes in competition.” In terms of colors, the collection highlights gray for responsibility, white for purity, gold for glory and crimson for courage. These hues were thoughtfully chosen to reflect the ideals of Garuda Pancasila.

Furthermore, the fundamental idea of the Indonesian culture, “Bhinneka Tunggal Ika,” or “Unity in Diversity,” is also reflected in the design of these garments. In addition to being aesthetically pleasing, Didiet Maulana’s line of track trousers, jerseys and jackets embody the principles of variety and togetherness that characterize the Indonesian people. Inspiring and empowering the athletes and fostering a sense of solidarity and sportsmanship are Didiet’s goals through this collection.
