The grand reopening of Conrad Singapore Orchard

Prestige Indonesia experienced the culmination of elegance and luxury at the recently revamped Conrad Singapore Orchard amidst the city’s verdant allure.
I was more than thrilled about the prospect of visiting this urban oasis at the heart of Singapore. After closing all guestrooms for around a year, the historic hotel building opened its doors in December 2023 once again, fully flaunting new designs inspired by modern amenities and understated luxury.
Occupying the vibrant enclave of Orchard Road, the new Conrad Singapore Orchard witnessed John Portman’s visionary design reimagined by local creatives and artists. My very first impression was of the Atrium interior skylit atrium – once a first in Singapore – that bathed the space in natural light, offering a warm welcome.
Within the King Conrad Suite on the top floor, another warm welcoming materialised in the form of a warm afternoon tea with various sweet and savoury hors d’oeuvres and refreshing beverages accompanied by General Manager Mike Williamson and Cluster Operations General Manager Oscar Postma. It was delightful hearing about the hotel in such a passionate manner.
Eye-catching contemporary art pieces adorned the interior. The stories were of Singapore’s rich botanical heritage seen through a curated art collection, including globally renowned sculptures like Stephanie Scuris’ Harmony Fountain and Michio Ihara’s Singapore Shower.
My King Deluxe Suite accommodation, one of the 445 newly imagined guest rooms, was a sanctuary of botanical-inspired design. Floor-to-ceiling windows framed views of lush greenery, inviting ample natural light. Echoing tranquillity in hues of sand, cream, and muted greens, the design was complemented by signature palm motifs and potted tropical trees, embodying the essence of residential living infused with nature. As I reached the suite after the day was concluded, an on-screen sound healing ritual prompted my mind to start unwinding. Sipping the calming tea made from native botanical harvest gave me a sense of calm as a reward for my productive day.
As I welcomed the smooth embrace of luxurious linen and rested my head against pillows chosen especially for me, I thanked the signature Sleep-to-Wake ritual with one of the most restful sleep I’ve had in a while.
My journey at Conrad Singapore Orchard was punctuated by moments of relaxation and contemplation. The hotel’s commitment to impactful experiences was evident in the curated interactions, like the Edible Garden Walk to the Singapore Botanical Gardens. We reconnected with nature by learning about the garden’s impressive variety of botanical wealth. Before returning to the hotel, we enjoyed a hearty picnic by the picturesque lake as part of the experience.
Dining at Conrad Singapore Orchard was a discovery of gastronomy and bold artistry. Basilico captivated me with its vibrant Italian soul, while the Michelin starred Summer Palace elevated Cantonese cuisine to new heights. It was an especially memorable experience as we enjoyed a yee sang prosperity ritual to celebrate the Chinese New Year.
The award-winning Manhattan, with its musical theatre-inspired cocktails, set the stage for a different kind of unwinding – one of refined indulgence. An exclusive tour of the inner sanctum revealed ageing casks and multiple collections of various types and ages of drinks – evidence of serious dedication and passion to the art of cocktail crafting.
As my stay concluded, I reflected on the meaningful hospitality that Conrad Singapore Orchard provided – a blend of luxury, nature, and artistry that redefines the guest experience.
The grand reopening of Conrad Singapore Orchard kicked off with an ‘Orchard Fusion’ cocktail soiree. The evening commenced with a ceremonial drumming performance, captivating the audience with its rhythmic resonance – a fitting prelude to a night of cultural and contemporary fusion.
Culinary artistry was on full display, with Conrad Singapore Orchard’s chefs presenting edible art installations that tantalised the eyes and the palate. Manhattan, the hotel’s award-winning destination bar, offered a glimpse of its mixology prowess through a pop-up bar serving signature craft cocktails.
The array of entertainments, from roving performers to a jazz duet accompanied by ballerinas, infused the atmosphere with an electrifying blend of elegance and excitement.
As the afterparty unfolded at Manhattan, it was clear that the Conrad Singapore Orchard had not only reopened its doors but had also redefined luxury hospitality with its commitment to delivering purposeful, heartfelt service.
