The star-studded Grand Opening of Palazzo Versace Macau

The inauguration of Palazzo Versace Macau, the first Palazzo Versace property in Asia, was truly a night to remember.

March 23, 2024, marked a monumental time in the history of Macau and that of fashion house Versace, as the day saw the grand unveiling of Palazzo Versace Macau. Situated within the vast complex of Grand Lisboa Palace Macau Resort, the hotel follows the success of its predecessor, Palazzo Versace Dubai, which was unveiled in 2016. With a unique east-meets-west concept at its heart, the 271-key hotel invites travellers and bon vivants to celebrate la dolce vita that honours the rich cultures of both Italy and Macau.

The grand soirée witnessed a stellar guestlist, including Versace’s global brand ambassador Rosy Zhao, model Chrissy Teigen, and Taiwanese actor Austin Lin. Korean actress Shin Hye-sun, rapper Ok Taec-yeon, and Thai actor Blue Pongtiwat Tangwanchareon were also spotted among the glittering crowd. And of course, the house’s Chief Creative Officer, Donatella Versace herself, was present, joined by the Managing Director of SJM Resorts Daisy Ho in welcoming the guests to the premises.

Welcoming guests to the opening event was a golden dragon sculpture perched on top of Romanesque columns surrounding the mosaic-embellished outdoor pool, as a nod to the Year of the Dragon. A glass catwalk was installed over the pool, which provided a unique spot to take photos. At the Jardim Secreto, harpist Dan Yu, accompanied by a quintet of musicians from the Macau Orchestra, greeted guests with thrilling performances. As the evening went on, guests were led to The Grand Pavilion for Versace Signatures. The space set the stage for an inspiring exhibition showcasing the house’s iconic designs, from emblematic prêt-à-porter pieces to those from Atelier Versace.

Of course, no celebration would be complete without great food, and the hotel’s grand unveiling saw a lavish banquet dinner where Chinese cuisine stole the spotlight. While indulging in the delicacies, guests were entertained by a drum performance by talented Macanese musicians. The cherry on top, however, was a surprise performance by Grammy Awards-winning singer-songwriter John Legend.
