TA’AKTANA, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa is set to open in March

Marriott International’s first Labuan Bajo property under the Luxury Collection brand – TA’AKTANA, A Luxury Collection Resort & Spa – presents an unparalleled retreat while still putting sustainability on the menu
As one of the prime destinations in the eastern part of Indonesia, Labuan Bajo has attracted an abundance of visitors keen to explore its uniqueness. In the past years, the small fishing town has evolved into a little piece of heaven blessed with natural beauty. And this year, Labuan Bajo will welcome a new beachfront sanctuary: TA’AKTANA, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa. An establishment under Marriott International’s Luxury Collection brand, it is the second Luxury Collection property in Indonesia and the first on Flores Island.
Slated to open in late March 2024, TA’AKTANA encompasses 70 suites and villas. The seaside haven embraces modernity that is seamlessly blended with local flairs. The contemporary interior was conceived by Bali- and Singapore-based studio A&Partners and is enriched with motifs that honour Labuan Bajo’s heritage. Each personal quarter on the premises will also feature ultra-luxury amenities to ensure the utmost in comfort.
In addition, the resort takes pride in its Sea Villas, which promise over-the-water opulence that embraces the beauty of the local culture. These villas, in particular, are the first of its kind in Labuan Bajo, thus giving holidaymakers a one-of-a-kind luxury when visiting. Experiences are further elevated through a series of dining venues, rejuvenation journeys at Di’a Spa at TA’AKTANA, and various activities.
While taking luxury to new heights, the resort will maintain an unyielding commitment to sustainability. Through partnerships with local artisans, farmers, and communities, it is dedicated to nurturing local businesses and, simultaneously, providing opportunities for small enterprises to present their products. Cultural preservation is also at the heart of the establishment. From the resort’s layout designed like lingko fields – spider web-shaped rice paddy fields unique to Flores – to lanterns guests can use while strolling through the property at night, TA’AKTANA invites holidaymakers to experience Labuan Bajo like no others.
In terms of environmental sustainability, life at TA’AKTANA flows according to the principles of recycle, reduce, and reuse. To reduce waste, the resort features an on-site bottling plant. Excess batik fabrics are repurposed as table napkins, while waste fabrics from the team’s uniforms are transformed into souvenirs.
The General Manager of TA’AKTANA, Sabreena Jacob states: “We are thrilled to introduce TA’AKTANA, a jewel in the portfolio of hotels under The Luxury Collection crown, offering a gateway to Labuan Bajo’s hidden treasures. This resort exemplifies our commitment to providing unparalleled luxury experiences, blending the natural beauty of the destination with the refined elegance of The Luxury Collection brand.”
In addition, Alvin Jo from A&Partners also says of the resort: “The Luxury Collection Bajo design is nothing but capturing and reinterpreting the overwhelmingly beauty of Labuan Bajo and its ‘People of Land and Sea’ through thoughtful crafted spaces aiming to navigate people’s excitement into a wholesome experience during their stay.”
