The bold debut of the new Rolls-Royce Spectre

The arrival of the Rolls-Royce Spectre heralds a new chapter in the storied legacy of one of the world’s most iconic luxury car brands.
Prestige Indonesia, having been invited to the Southeast Asia launch in Singapore earlier this year, is now thrilled to officially announce the entrance of this groundbreaking model into the realm of ultra-luxury electric cars.
The Spectre is not just another addition to the Rolls-Royce lineage; it is a bold declaration of the future, encapsulating over a century of motoring heritage while embracing the revolutionary potential of electric technology. It was back in 1900 when motoring pioneer The Honourable Charles Stewart Rolls foresaw the potential of electric vehicles. Now, more than a century later, his vision has come to fruition with the Rolls-Royce Spectre, the brand’s first fully-electric car.
After rigorous testing covering more than 2.5 million kilometres, simulating over 400 years of use, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Jakarta unveiled the Spectre for the first time in Indonesia in 14 November 2023, at a grand ceremony at Park Hyatt Jakarta. The launch represents a monumental technical undertaking, a promise kept, and a leap into an all-electric future. By 2030, Rolls-Royce plans to fully embrace this electric ethos, marking the end of new models with internal combustion engines.
As the world’s first ultra-luxury electric super coupé, the Spectre is a masterpiece of engineering and design. The all-electric powertrain takes the signature Rolls-Royce experience to new heights, offering instant torque and silent running. Its Decentralised Intelligence system allows thousands of individual vehicle functions to communicate freely and directly, enhancing the brand’s renowned ‘magic carpet ride’.
The Spectre, a two-door fastback, is visually striking and generously proportioned. It stands as the spiritual successor to the Phantom Coupé, offering a perfect canvas for personalisation through the brand’s Bespoke capabilities.
Underpinning the Spectre is the ‘Architecture of Luxury’, an all-aluminium spaceframe that is scalable and modifiable, allowing for bespoke customisation. This innovative structure and the rigid 700-kilogram battery make the Spectre 30% stiffer than any previous Rolls-Royce, enhancing the driving experience. The battery’s seamless positioning within the sturdy architecture ensures no compromise to the brand’s renowned magic carpet driving experience.
The all-electric drivetrain was a deliberate choice, with the Spectre fitted with two powerful electric motors. This setup provides an unmatched smooth but fast performance, achieving 0 – 100kph in just 4.4 seconds. Yet, it remains true to the RollsRoyce ethos, offering a range of effortlessness more than sufficient for the lifestyle of its clientele.
The Spectre’s interior is a technological marvel, with features like the Starlight Doors and an Illuminated Fascia that incorporates over 5,500 stars. The attention to detail, such as seats, inspired by British tailoring, allows for a level of personalisation that is unparalleled.
In terms of digital connectivity, the Spectre is the most connected Rolls-Royce ever, with a software architecture that processes data close to its source, allowing the car to respond more quickly to driver inputs and changing road conditions.
Externally, the Spectre draws inspiration from various domains, including haute couture and nautical design. Its aerodynamics are optimised by a specially designed Spirit of Ecstasy and a sleek Pantheon grille, making it the most aerodynamic Rolls-Royce ever built.
Spectre, as eloquently stated by Torsten Müller-Ötvös, CEO of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, is a Rolls-Royce first and an electric car second. It represents the perfect alignment of Rolls-Royce’s heritage with the demands and sensibilities of the modern era.
