The popular crime-comedy series Only Murders in the Building has officially been renewed for season 5.
Season 4 of OMITB dropped on Disney+ Hotstar on August 27, with one episode releasing every week, concluding with a finale on October 29. Since its first season, the show has gained positive feedback from critics and has gained a loyal fanbase over time. According to Variety, the upcoming season will also consist of 10 episodes like its predecessors.
Hulu has just greenlit season 5 of the beloved crime-comedy show Only Murders in the Building. Currently, we don’t know much about the narrative or who will join the cast. According to the announcement, the key trio of Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez will return, but shooting has not yet begun. We are also still waiting for an expected release date.
The show primarily focuses on the unlikely trio of Charles, Oliver, and Mabel (played by Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez respectively) who live in a building named the Arconia located on the Upper West Side of New York City. Their shared interest in true crime podcasts brought them together, and when one of the residents of their building was murdered, they decide to play detective and create their own podcast. The one rule of their crime-solving endeavours: they only solve homicides that occur within the Arconia. Now the question is, should this trend continue in season 5, who in the Arconia will be the next to fall?
In the latest season, the detective trio heads to Hollywood after a major studio offers them a movie contract based on their podcast. At the same time, they continue to investigate the murder of Sazz Pataki, Charles’ stunt double and close friend, who was shot dead in his apartment. The trio are also confronted with a dilemma: what if the bullet was actually meant for Charles?
Aside from the show’s usual charm and moments of comedic relief, it is known for having famous guest stars on set. This season, we will witness Meryl Streep, Eugene Levy, Zach Galifianakis, Eva Longoria, Richard Kind, Melissa McCarthy, Kumail Nanjiani, and Molly Shannon who will play various characters on the show. The show, co-created by Steve Martin and John Hoffman, has continuously maintained excellent ratings and an engaging storyline, and we’re excited to see what happens next at the Arconia.
