AI On The Future: Meet Digital Pioneer Jennifer Zhu Scott

The digital-assets expert has her finger on the pulse of the transformational technologies that are changing our world.
This year I’ve been collaborating with energy-transition leaders to provide grid and commercial and industrial energy-storage solutions. As AI development accelerates energy consumption, it’s important for me to work on the downstream infrastructure to keep this development as green as possible.
What excites me about AI is that it’s a powerful tool that will accelerate humankind’s efforts to solve some of life’s most difficult challenges, from curing cancer and fighting climate change, to understanding the brain. And though AI itself doesn’t scare me at all, the idea of humans with centralised power controlling AI does scare me.
Growing up in rural China, we didn’t have a clear idea of what the future held. To be honest, at that point it was impossible for me to envision anything long-term. All I could do was to take one small step at a time, and keep moving forward. But I’ve always been curious and eager to learn new things. This has pushed me to keep moving forward and never stop learning and improving myself. Everything I achieved today comes from always working hard, being intellectually curious, and willing to take on new challenges.
As a consultant for HBO’s Silicon Valley, what I love about the real region and its tech culture is the genuine entrepreneurship and relentless innovation. However, I’m often amused by how self-absorbed many people there can be and how completely unaware they are of it.
When I’m not surrounded by the tech space, I like to spend my time reading and being in nature. I’ve also found writing to be a good channel to express my creative side, but I need to find time to write more.
What I’m most looking forward to for the rest of the year is continuing making wise investments in the AI space, enabling worthy entrepreneurs and making meaningful progress with my energy-transition project.
