Review: Why Honor’s Magic 6 Pro Phone is a Game-Changer

Honor’s new flagship phone features impressive innovations like eye-tracking tech, a silicon-carbon battery and AI features
Chinese company Honor may not be a household brand like competitors Apple, Google or Samsung, but thanks to its new flagship phone, it’s fast making a name for itself.
Enter the Honor Magic 6 Pro: with advancements in photography, display, performance, and AI-powered user experiences, the phone is totally transforming the regular user experience, introducing new ways for humans to interact with their smart devices.
Top of the ran the range photography
One of the most notable things about the device are the large camera lenses on the back. And for good reason – the Magic 6 Pro’s Falcon photography system has a total of four cameras, making it one of the most sought-after phone cameras currently on the market.
Its latest camera system introduces a outstanding 180MP Telephoto camera lens (f/2.6, OIS) with 2.5x optical zoom and up to 100x digital zoom. It also features a 50MP ultra-wide camera (f/2.0, EIS) and a powerful 50MP main camera with variable aperture capabilities (f/1.4 and f/2.0, OIS), to capture fast-paced moments in excellent clarity without compromising on any of the details. Camera lenses aside, the device includes an optional AI beauty filter to ensure you also look your best in your photos.
You can also record crisp videos in 4K at up to 60 frames per second with any of the device’s main camera lenses. The autofocus is fast and efficient, while the movie mode function offers a more cinematic feel.
Superb battery life
Tired of carrying power banks and cables everywhere? Well, you’re safe to go a day or even two without charging your Honor Magic 6 Pro. Thanks to its silicon carbon battery, it offers both long battery life and fast charging. And unlike regular lithium-ion batteries, the use of silicon-carbon batteries lower environmental impact and reduces the risk of overheating.
Nifty new features
The 3D face unlock uses a system similar to the iPhone’s face ID, mapping the contours of your face for better accuracy and security. It works without fault, even in the dark, making the Magic 6 Pro the first Android phone to match Apple for face unlocking speed, consistency and overall security.
With the Magic Portal function, you can touch and drag online content, such as text, an image, or a screenshot, over to the right and drop it into another app, like Gmail or Notes.
For example, Magic Portal’s AI quickly recognizes addresses in text messages and directs you to Google Maps, enabling effortless navigation. For social media like Instagram and Facebook, it also streamlines the access and sharing, allowing you to forward booking details or online search results with just a single drag.
And if you’re prone to dropping your phone and cracking your screen – there’s finally some good news. Honor uses its own ‘NanoCrystal Shield’ glass on the display, which is apparently able to deliver even better shock and drop resistance than Gorilla Glass.
Coming soon…
The Magic 6 Pro runs on the MagicOS 8.0 operating system, which is based on Android 14. Thanks to its vast array of AI-based features, Honor claims its latest operating system is one “that really knows you”. And they certainly have a point. The most notable AI feature, which is not yet available globally, can use eye-tracking is to open notifications. Soon, you’ll be able to answer calls and even turn on a car using only your peepers. We’re keeping our eyes peeled for this, quite literally.
Final verdict…
Honor may be a relatively new brand on the market, but this new flagship phone is already making waves in the Android community – and rightly so. The Honor Magic 6 Pro is impressive, easy-to-use and makes life a lot more convenient thanks to its impressive AI features.
